PLAID

Another veil beanie? Yes, I'm obsessed.
Today we talk about the differences between capes and ponchos. I'll share my knowledge about it with you and try to say/write it short and simple. Well firstly, let's get back in time!
Many of you may think that capes and cloaks are the same thing. During the Renaissance, a cloak was a long piece of garment covering the full lenght of the body. Most of them had large hoods that covered the head. (see Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Zorro or Red Riding Hood). A cape was the upper side of the cloak tied around the shoulders.
Ponchos were firstly worn by the residences of Central and South America. Yes, the ones that mariachi wear together with those big sombreros.  A poncho is usually made from wool and has rectangular shapes.
Unlike the capes, the ponchos has a hole cut in the middle, otherwise it would be just a blanket. Another difference is that capes are made from circles while the ponchos are made out of rectangles.
What the hell was I wearing? A weird combination of these matched with a large scarf and tied with a belt. I worn this outfit when I went for a Sunday walk, light shopping and a meeting with friends.

Have a lovely Monday evening!

OTK

While another layer of snow is covering the Earth in a boundless white blanket, I'm writing a new post on the blog. I know how everyone is disappointed that this old lady has made an unexpected comeback. Oh well, it's still winter! So, let's dream of warmer days together! Remember how naive we were last week thinking that winter is gone? I was certainly craving for spring and dressing up in light clothes.
As I have mentioned in the previous post, I am quite obsessed with this white coat. Blame me for loving clean cuts! This time I chose to wear it with a pastel blue dress underneath, leather gloves and boots. I know, I know we've had enough of over the knee boots because they were amongst the top trends during the latest seasons. I'm not keen on following trends, not at all and I actually enjoy wearing them. What I strongly dislike is how some people are wearing the same clothes/accesories just because  "it's in trend" whether they like it or not. I personally avoid following these controversial trends and pick what's suitable for my style and body shape. We all agree with the famous quotes, said by two of the greatest minds in the fashion industry:
"Fashion fades, only style remains the same." Coco Chanel
"Fashions fade style is eternal." Yves Saint Laurent
But, do we all apply this valuable advice in real life?

Candy Floss

During September, I was running like crazy in London from meeting to meeting, from interview to interview... The day I took these pictures was also the first day of London Fashion Week which made things even more complicated and London even busier. I'm not complaining, it was that good kind of busy. I like when everyone is working hard in order to fulfil their goals daily. Why? Because at the end of the day, we feel very productive and pleased with what we have managed to achieve. This is what makes the world go round.
However, I don't think I will wear white in London ever again. It was so, so hard to stay clean. Anyway, I was wearing two of my favourite garments from my wardrobe: white skirt and coat. I'm a big fan of basic items for the simple reason that they offer you endless styling possibilities. That time I chose to go for clean cuts, white and pale pink shades (a.k.a "candy floss palette" haha :D). I always like to wear coats "slung" on my shoulders, it gives the whole outfit an elegant touch. To finish the look and make it less sober and more chic, I wrapped a silk scarf around the bag handle.
What do you guys wear to meetings and interviews?

The Beanie Issue

TRANSITIONAL OUTFIT.

Looking at these pictures I still remember that afternoon perfectly: I had a meeting with my favourite lecturer from university for the last time. So sad, but so motivational at the same time.
Afterwards I had to make some changes to my outfit because I was hanging out with my boyfriend. Thus and so, I swapped my shirt for this bright pink jumper, untied my hair and put this chic veil beanie on. We snapped these pictures in our way. Too bad the sun was keep playing hide and seek and we couldn't get a proper light for the photos.
Anyway, we're all a bit sceptical when it comes to wearing beanies wondering the same questions over and over again: "Is it lady-like enough?", "What if it doesn't suit my outfit?", "What if it's not suitable for my face?" and so on. But let's face it ladies, if we really want to wear it, we will find the same excuse: "I have ears and I need to keep them warm!!!". I have to admit it though, I've become quite obsessed with veil beanies lately and they are so welcomed in my wardrobe.
My advice in choosing a piece of clothing or accessory? If you like it and it suits your figure and outfit, wear it! Fashion is not about following trends, it's about expressing yourself. This is how we manage to get our own style, so BE YOURSELF!

La Dolce Vita

Good evening, pretty birds! As I said in the previous post, I have so many photos from last summer that I want to share with you. So, here we go...
The idea behind this outfit was inspired by the well-known Dolce&Gabbana campaign which portrays the opulent women from Sicily in Baroque era. It also happens to be my favourite artistic style in painting, sculpture and architecture. I like  how Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana managed to link this fascinating period of time to XXI century through their timeless garments. What I've notice in their campaign it's the fact that it's not only about meticulously designed and fine-cut clothing or opulence, but also about la joie de vivre and finding beauty in everything.
I love how nowadays' fashion has a VOICE and the way it sends positive messages and empowers contemporary women around the world. Moreover, I strongly believe that fashion has its own language. For instance, back in the old days, people were dressing up according to their rank. It represented their social signature and a manner of revealing their identity without the need to speak.
Having said that, this outfit is my own interpretation of the modern Baroque woman. In my opinion, you don't need to wear head-to-toe designer brands in order to get a nice outfit, just choose the essentials and enhance your outfit with the right accessories. In this case, I started with the basics: a black pencil skirt and a white tulle blouse. I added some gold reminiscent accessories that go well with the white embroidery of the blouse and a pair of mustard heels which brightens up the whole outfit.
I hope you like it and I'm looking forward to hear your feedback.
